New Music Video!!!

So I realized that it has been a while since I did a stop-motion film. I was recently handed a song to do a video for by Mad Dragon Records. The track is by an upcoming band called, The Company We Keep.

They had a darker vibe to them, so I figured why not do a stop-motion music video. Only this type of animation can be two things, goofy or creepy. The only problem though was that the song is four minutes long. And if you know this type of animation, you have to shoot a photo (frame) for each action that your subject in front of camera makes. Now there is twenty frames in one second. With a four minute video, that equals out to be 240 seconds. THAT'S A LOT OF PHOTOS!

The song is about a down and out girl, so I made the video take place in a dark creepy attic with toys and dolls. My parents neighber and good friend of mine, Kathrine, had all these old dolls and just handed me over the box saying, "HERE!"

I found one doll in particular that stood out more then the others. And when I say stood out from the others, I'm saying had no hair, big blue eyes, and most of all was fuckin' creepy!

Shooting in the attic was the hardest thing. With all the lights and the hot weather outside, I had to keep a fan on my equipment from the radiating heat.

We are almost done with the edit and will post the video soon, but thought some stills might grab your interest...

Calm Before the Storm

So I have been thinking, it's not too often that someone makes a film about their brother. Fortunate enough I was able to do so about my little brother Quincy.

For those who don't know Quincy is the musician in the family as for me, obviously, am the filmmaker. Two different artist, but yet create a product together like no other brothers can. And when I say product I mean music videos...that is up until this point. I never thought that I would be producing a feature with the little shit, but we did.

I blogged about it before, but on March 2nd & 3rd "Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why" recorded their first LIVE album. Now along with that album will be equipped with a DVD featuring the whole live performance along with an hour long documentary on the band and their crazy life, touring, playing with one another, and the insane life of a struggling musician.

I think the piece says a lot, but the best part is this is the first REAL joint project that both Quincy and I are packaging together. It was a real headache, but I think it would be for anyone who had joint creative control with their brother. It felt really good though shipping out that finished DVD to get packaged.

The title of the movie is "Calm before the Storm: A documentary on Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why." Hopefully you can all get a copy of this brotherly love made film on May 25th. Soon after you can find it on CDbaby, iTunes, and other outlets. And if you hate it...give it to a friend who might like it, ha.

It was an experience. I guess that makes feature number three for me! YES!!
